Your ankle brace size is different from your shoe size because it’s based on your ankle circumference. View our size chart for instructions on measuring your ankle circumference. You’ll use that measurement to figure out which size brace will provide the best fit. The Ultra Zoom will not fit a shoe size smaller than a women’s size 6 or a men’s size 7.

Measure around your ankle with a tape measure as shown in the photo and then reference the size chart to the right. If your ankle is measuring in-between two size we would recommend going with the smaller size. If your ankle is measuring right at 14” then we would recommend going with the size S/M.

How to Wear the Ultra Zoom

The Ultra Zoom is designed to be worn inside athletic shoes for maximum comfort, stability, and performance.

  • Loosen your shoelaces all the way down to the toes before putting the brace on
  • Insert your foot with the brace into the shoe
  • Retighten laces starting from the toes up for a secure fit

Avoid shoes with sock-style or tight collar designs, as they may limit adjustability and fit.

Sizing & Fit

Sizing is based on ankle circumference, not shoe size.

Measure the circumference just above the ankle bone to determine the correct size.

If you are between sizes, consider sizing up for comfort.

Question: What do I do if the Ultra Zoom doesn’t seem to fit in my shoe?

Answer: The Ultra Zoom is designed to fit inside athletic shoes — it typically requires a one-time set-up adjustment. We recommend resetting your shoelaces by loosening them all the way to the toes before putting the brace on. Once your foot and brace are inside the shoe, re-tighten from the toes upward to ensure a secure fit. This one-time setup ensures proper fit, comfort, and support. Question: Why can the Ultra Zoom initially feel uncomfortable?

Answer: Like a new pair of performance shoes, the Ultra Zoom requires a short break-in period. We recommend wearing the brace inside your shoes for 15–20 minutes at a time to allow it to mold to your ankle. For best results, follow our Custom Form Fitting Video for a faster, more personalized fit. Take time to wear it and allow it to form to your ankle for the best fit and performance.

Question: How long does it take for the Ultra Zoom to feel comfortable?

Answer: Most users begin to notice improved comfort after a full practice or game. As the brace warms and forms to your ankle, it becomes more natural and comfortable during movement. Following the Custom Form Fitting Video will help speed up this process.

Question: Why does the Ultra Zoom feel loose or unsupportive when I first put it on?

Answer: The Ultra Zoom is designed to provide full support and stability only when worn inside a properly laced athletic shoe. Be sure to wear it with secure, lace-up athletic footwear — not sandals, tall boots, or slip-on styles. Once inside a proper shoe, the brace locks into place for maximum stability and comfort.

Question: The Ultra Zoom is an orthopedic ankle brace. What does that mean?

Answer: As an orthopedic-grade brace, the Ultra Zoom offers a higher level of ankle stability than typical compression or lace-up braces. Its hinged design mimics natural ankle motion while stabilizing against harmful movement. Question: Can I wear the Ultra Zoom on either ankle (left or right)?

Answer: Yes — the Ultra Zoom is initially universal and can be worn on either ankle. Once form-fitted to one side, it becomes customized for that ankle. We recommend labeling it “left” or “right” after fitting. – Watch our Ultra Zoom Fitting Video for step-by-step guidance.

Question: The hinge on my Ultra Zoom is squeaking. What do I do?

Answer: A slight squeak occurs if the hinge dries out — it’s completely normal. Simply apply a silicone-based lubricant spray to the hinge and wipe off any excess. This will restore smooth, quiet motion.

Question: Do I need to wear socks with the Ultra Zoom?

Answer: Yes. For comfort and hygiene, we recommend wearing crew-length or athletic socks with the Ultra Zoom — just like with most ankle braces.

 

Although your new ankle braces will fit either ankle, make sure to mark them “right” or “left” on the white tab on the upper strap and wear them on the same ankle each time. Since the ankle braces will form fit to your ankle, they will become ankle specific after the break-in period.
