REINA’S Story

Reina is a 2023 graduate of Liberty Commons High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. While there she earned Class 3A All-State Second Team honors and First Team All-Conference honors during her senior year. Also during her senior year she helped her team win the Region 10 championship and a bid to the Colorado state championship tournament. Reina now plays volleyball collegiately for Chaminade University of Honolulu where she played seven matches as a freshman and made two starts. Why does Reina play volleyball? “I started playing volleyball in third grade, but before that, I would always be prepping (or trying to) with my parents in the backyard. I am so inspired by the athletes around me who continue to push their limits and grow as players and as people. Something I love about volleyball is that it is so fast-paced and no point is ever the same. It is both a physical and mental game. Also, the lifelong friendships I have made because of this sport are so special and I could not be more grateful for the people I have met or the connections I have made. I chose Chaminade University for its strong team culture and the unique experience of playing volleyball in Hawai’i.”

WHY ULTRA ANKLE?

I have worn ankle braces since I was 14 and I have always known the importance of protecting my ankles as a middle blocker. I love Ultra Ankle braces because they don’t restrict my movement, they are comfortable and easy to wear, and they also look super cool. I haven’t had an ankle injury since I started wearing Ultra’s, and I am confident they have prevented so many. On top of that, these braces are durable and can last multiple seasons which I love.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR CHAMINADE university?

The best part about playing for Chaminade is the culture of the team. Even though we are a small school and we don’t have what many other schools have, we still work hard and come out on top in the end. I love our mindset on and off the court. Also, living in Hawai’i doesn’t have many downsides either.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?

I would tell young players to keep working hard and know that their hard work will pay off in the end. You will never regret working hard for something that means a lot to you, but you will regret not working hard enough. Make the most out of your time as an athlete so you can be proud of everything you’ve accomplished.kl
