I started playing volleyball when I was 8 years old. My grandfather, Barry Long played on the Ball State University men’s volleyball team from 1968 to 1971 and my mother also played at the collegiate level at Lee University. They are the biggest inspirations I have for this game and the reason I play. Volleyball brings me so much joy and it is extremely fun! I chose to come to the University of Notre Dame not only because of the great, determined volleyball program but because of the amazing coaching staff and family aspect all around this program.
WHY ULTRA ANKLE?
Ever since switching over to the Ultra Ankle braces my ankles have felt super supported yet continue to be very mobile. Ultra Ankle has given me confidence on the court that I am protected from any injuries at the net!
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR NOTRE DAME?
I love how everyone on this team has a strong, determined mind to get better everyday and compete successfully at the highest level. On top of this, we are such a tight knit family and it makes it so much fun to compete against and play with my best friends. It is also amazing to have such great coaches that I am determined to do well for.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?
Always keep a positive mindset and keep your mental health a priority. This sport gives such a good community building experience, so make sure that you are finding healthy and positively growing relationships so while you are having the best time on the court, there is also someone for you to lean on!
