LIBERTIE’S STORY
Hi, I’m Libertie, I go by “Libby” for short. Currently I go to East View High School in Georgetown, TX, I have played Club for Country Fire Volleyball for 3 years. Fun Fact about me I’m from Midland, TX the home of Friday Night Lights. I started playing volleyball in The 4th grade at our Local YMCA. I experimented with volleyball because I had an interest in playing a team sport and wanted to try something new. This would quickly turn into something I was SUPER Passionate about, and I knew my love for the game would constantly grow! Earning The Libero Jersey each year is one of my proudest moments and something that I’m always looking for growth on as it takes persistence, grit, and a strong mind. I constantly work at my craft because I have a vision of playing volleyball at the collegiate level while I study to be a RN. I love volleyball because I am a competitive person and I enjoy the fight back and forth. Secondly, I enjoy my teammates, specifically growing together, and the people that I meet traveling the country to different tournaments. Currently it’s early in my recruiting process and I’m looking for the perfect fit for my goals! Some Current Awards / Accolades that I have include “Best Defensive Player” in back to back years at my Current Club.
WHY ULTRA ANKLE?
I have watched several of my teammates get injured, and not able to battle at crucial times. My theory is your best ability is availability. As long as I’m available, I can compete. My Current Club presented me with ankle brace options. I wanted something to keep me on the court, which is when I found Ultra Ankle and immediately ordered. The braces are a soft shell plastic and flexible allowing me to trust my next move without the discomfort of a hard stiff brace. I prefer the Ultra Zoom Braces specifically because they feel safer than traditional braces. The pivot point on the ankle allows full range of motion.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR COUNTRY FIRE VOLLEYBALL?
Coach Morgan brings an unbelievable attitude every single day. I’m confident that she will develop my skills and send me to the next level as she was a Stand Out College Athlete herself at Trinity University! Jason brings a calmness to the court and coaches the team in a way that is relatable in any instance. Some of my favorite things about Country Fire are the people around me supporting me every day. Good Days / Bad Days. The Club is required to be at Bible Study once a week on Wednesdays. It gives me an understanding about myself and perspective on life!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?
My advice to younger players is to be 1% better each time you walk onto the court. Even if it’s something small. Specifically, I would tell young Libero’s to never give up if you are shaky in Serve Receive one day, or lose the jersey for a game. Train your mind to respond and react rather than shut down. Your mind is a constant project, no one is perfect. Volleyball is a game of 25 errors. Reset, Next Play!
