Ava’s high school career was nothing short of extraordinary. She prepped at Fishers High School and played club volleyball for Munciana. During her tenure, she amassed 736 kills, 317 blocks, 140 digs, 86 aces, and maintained an impressive .345 hitting percentage. Ava broke the career blocks record at Fishers and was ranked as the No. 3 player in Indiana by PrepDig. Her accolades include First Team All-Conference and All-District in 2021 and 2022, First Team All-State in 2022, and a spot on the 2022 AVCA All-American Watch List. Ava also led her team to a sectional title in 2021 and was a member of the IHSVCA 4A All-Star Team. Ava continued her volleyball journey at Indiana University, where she quickly made her mark. As a freshman, she appeared in 12 matches with four starts, recording 36 kills and 25 blocks. She delivered standout performances, including a career-high seven kills in wins over Jacksonville and Purdue.

When Ava is asked “why volleyball? she responds – “I have been playing volleyball since middle school and fell in love with it the second I started. I grew up playing basketball because my dad was a huge basketball guy which is where my initial love for sports began. My parents both inspire me daily to peruse my passion with sports and with anything else I do in life. I chose to attend and play volleyball at Indiana University because of the family like feel and culture. People have always been the number one thing for me and from the second I met the staff and team in the program I knew it was where I belonged.”

WHY ULTRA ANKLE?

“I have been wearing Ultra Ankle braces since I played basketball in middle school and continued wearing them all throughout my volleyball career. I love how secure I feel in them but while also having a wide range of mobility. Being a middle blocker there are lots of lateral moves I have to make and with Ultra Ankles I feel secure. I have always had weaker ankles and that has lead to multiple ankle injuries in the past, but wearing my Ultra ankles has helped me recover fast.”

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT PLAYING FOR indiana university?

“The best part of playing for Indiana University is the people and culture I am surrounded by. I feel everyday that I have a great support system with me and that if I ever need anything I know there are people that have my back. Along with culture, everyone in the program from staff to players has the same mindset when it comes to competing and striving for greatness.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUNG PLAYERS IN YOUR SPORT?

“The advice I would give younger players in my sport is that consistency is more important than perfection. No one is ever going to be perfect at their game so there is no reason to strive for it. Having consistency with what you do will show way more progress than striving for perfection.”
