1985 Hinged Rick Peters Restrict Ankle Inversion “turning” In 1985, Rick Peters begins revolutionizing the ankle brace by introducing the first hinged brace. The hinged brace still protected athletes from ankle inversion, and the added hinge improved performance by ensuring the forward motion of the ankle is not restricted. The result was a new standard in ankle protection that athletes relied upon to both treat and help prevent ankle inversion injuries until 2000, when Peters again improved the ankle brace with the invention of hinged cuff technology. |
