Univ. of S. Alabama basketball athletic trainer Matthew Brown's mid-season update.
It's half way through our season so I wanted to keep you up to date. We've had 4 ankle injuries this year. Fortunately none of them were serious. Three of the four injuries occurred with players wearing the lace up braces. The only injury in your brace happened when the player had his foot stepped on and he tried to cut and essentially couldn't move his foot. He came away with a slight midfoot sprain but was able to continue playing.
Other than that, we have had no true ankle injuries in the Zoom Ankle braces. The players who are in your braces say that when they land awkwardly, the brace corrects them from inverting and they are able to continue playing with no issues. They say that the few times they have twisted their ankle or foot, they feel that if they were in the lace ups that they wouldn't be able to continue playing. We have had no practice or game time missed by those in your braces. Once again, thanks.
