GLEN SNOW JOINS ULTRA ANKLE, REUNITES WITH RICK PETERS

Indianapolis, IN: In 1984, Rick Peters and Glen Snow revolutionized sports medicine and the orthopedic brace industry with the introduction of the first hinged sports ankle brace. Their company, Active Ankle Systems, Inc., became an industry leader as lightweight, flexible hinged bracing replaced traditional “lace up” and stirrup braces that had been the standard.

Snow and Peters are doing it again, with Snow rejoining Peters at Indianapolis-based Ultra Ankle® as National Sales Manager and Promotions Director. Ultra Ankle® is the product-development company Peters founded in 2000 specifically to develop next generation ankle braces using leading-edge materials, technology and design.  The company is on an aggressive growth curve to develop a national sales and marketing team. “We’ve been working together for more than 30 years,” says Peters of his relationship with Snow. No one knows athletes better–no one knows athletic trainers better–than Glen Snow. He’s a natural fit for us. Especially now.”

Snow, a Ball State graduate, began his career as a high-school athletic trainer.  He was named National High School Athletic Trainer of the year three times. It was while as an athletic trainer at Floyd Central High School in southern Indiana that he was first introduced to Peters and his revolutionary bracing design.

“At first, no one thought bracing this light, this flexible, could actually work,” says Snow. “Me included. But Rick made a believer out of me. And millions of other folks. And the rest is history.”

Snow joined Peters in promoting the new product, and the pair was able to attract venture funding that launched them into the ankle brace business in earnest. Peters was the product design visionary. Snow connected them and their new product to the marketplace. This same dynamic is at work today at Ultra Ankle, with the pair being joined by operations veteran Tom Vanneman to form the core of Ultra Ankle's “management team of the future.”

“Twenty five years ago, we had the newest technology; and were the new kids on the block,” says Snow. “Today, we’re doing it again with several new products, new materials, and new patented innovations. And I’m excited to be back.”
